DESCRIPTION
Full-Time Hours: 37.5
hours per week including 3 evenings & weekend duties Salary: £25-£27.5K full-time Dependent
on experience and qualifications Responsible to: Director:
Oxford Kilburn Youth Trust Purpose of
post: As a senior
member of the staff team, to engage with young people, creating and leading
programmes and activities that young people will find attractive and that
will contribute to their personal, social and spiritual development. Working closely with the Director, other
staff and volunteers as part of the wider Club team, the role has a strong
emphasis on further developing the quality of our youth work as well as the
range and number of opportunities available to our members. It will build on
current successes, and opportunities created by recent refurbishments. Main Duties: 1 To plan a range of attractive
activities, events and programmes which retain the interest of young people
and foster personal, social and spiritual development. 2 To engage with a wide range of young
people in the OK Club, on the streets and in schools and involve them in
constructive activity, discussion and youth action. 3 To develop appropriate opportunities
for sharing the Christian faith
with young people, and for exploring
issues relating to the Christian faith, and
to develop and deliver explicitly Christian material in liaison with the Director and
designated staff. 4 To work through group processes,
mentoring and support, to foster personal, social and spiritual development
of individuals and groups, particularly new ‘recruits’. 5 To communicate appropriately and in
a variety of timely ways to ensure that new and targeted young people know
about Club and other opportunities available. Other Responsibilities: 6 To pass full information to, and
work in close liaison with, the Director. 7 To supervise or act as a team leader
for specific workers or sessions. 8 To take responsibility for certain
agreed sessions, events or activities. 9 To network and liaise as agreed with
families and partner agencies. 10 To maintain detailed database and
other records and prepare reports. 11 To work within the Oxford Kilburn
Youth Trust policies and procedures. 12 To undertake agreed relevant training
and development programmes. 13 To undertake other duties commensurate
with the above as required. SENIOR

Essential
Skills and Experience:
1.1 A proven ability to engage and develop
relationships with young people 1.2 A proven ability in youth work with
both young men and young women. 1.3 A proven ability to work with
behaviourally challenging young people 2.1 A proven ability in creative planning
of activities, events & programmes 2.2 A proven ability to lead activities
& events for young people aged 11-19 2.3 A proven ability to understand and make
good use of group processes 3.1 A proven ability to assist Christian
faith development in young people 3.2 A proven ability to listen, empathise
& seek value in another viewpoint 3.3 A proven ability to work within a
culturally and racially diverse area 4.1 A proven ability to develop high
quality work with 11-19 young people 4.2 A proven ability in ways to communicate
with young people and adults 4.3 A proven ability in teamwork and in
partnerships with other agencies Essential:
undertaking
qualification following substantial youth work experience
Desirable: ·
Good
experience of responsibility for youth centre-based programmes ·
Experience
of youth action or volunteering or social enterprise ·
Relevant
life experiences, activity skills and other training ·
Track record
in outreach ministry with ‘un-churched’ young people ·
Experience
of relevant work in a drugs and/or weapons context ·
Experience
of face to face work in the voluntary youth sector ·
Successful
experience of accredited programmes for young people ·
Experience
in the supervision of volunteer and paid workers ·
Experience
of working within a school as well as a youth work context ·
Ability to
drive a minibus, and ideally vehicle maintenance skills |
