Monitoring
All our activities' assessments begin with the register. After each
activity, a de-brief session is held, where staff and volunteers can talk about
the successes and problems encountered. These are noted and discussions will
take place regarding how to build upon successes and tackle problems, including
through supervision and appraisal. Our tailored database enables us to draw reports upon the various groups, work areas and outcomes making it possible to evaluate activities. We divide the analysis between 24 'outcome areas' (covering subjects such as Crime & Behaviour, Emotional & Physical health, Learning difficulties, Social Development).
The workers are responsible for the monitoring of the children and young people's progress, looking into gains in awareness, ability, attitude and achievement. There are also monthly opportunities for children and young people to feedback on their own needs, through informal conversations and occasionally via questionnaires.
Of course our work often incorporates aspects and issues that may be very subtle and difficult to record. The impact on the community is often long term. We are working in the 'here and now', but we want the results to last a lifetime. Our approach follows 50 years of experience and constant re-evaluation of the impact of our work.
We are constantly promoting what we do, and looking to draw in more members of the community who perhaps don’t know what we offer, or have misconceptions about our inclusiveness. We aim at continuously communicating towards all ethnic groups, making them aware of our presence, who we are, and how we can help and assist them.
