27th July 2007 – Change of Chair

Nick Bent –

Stepping Down

Becky Foreman –

New Chair from Jan 2008

Nick Bent, Chairman of the OKClub Management Committee for the past six years, has stepped down.

As of August 2007, Matt Parker (ex Club Administrator) will be interim Chair, until Becky Foreman,

(ex volunteer resident a the Club) takes over permanently from January 2008. Becky has already joined the

Management Committee.

Nick will be moving north over the next few weeks, but he remains on the Management Committee and

intends to still be very involved with the organisation. I think everyone will agree that Nick has been an astonishingly talented person to have in the Chair. He has kept a totally reliable hand on the refurbishment of the premises. He has overseen the creation and development of a strong core staff team. He keeps a very cool head in times of difficulty, whether concerning financial threats, the intricacies of partnership working, or the occasionally volatile behaviour of young people. He has been incredibly conscientious, whether working most weeks as a volunteer, responding rapidly to sometimes lengthy emails from the Director, Administrator and Committee members, or working behind the scenes as our Lead Ambassador. Unfailingly good-natured, he has sustained close involvement in all aspects of our work in spite of a very demanding role at the heart of Government. Staff and volunteers all agree that Nick is a fantastic person to work for, strongly supportive but always keeping his own perspective. I am sure that everyone associated with Club during the past 15 years of Nick’s involvement will join in thanking him for his dedication, conscientiousness, hard work and wisdom.
